LIVERPOOL and Arsenal shared the spoils after an absorbing stalemate at the Emirates.

Both teams had excellent opportunities to claim all three points, however the performances of Simon Mignolet and Pet Cech were worthy of clean sheets.

Aaron Ramsey's disallowed goal after just ten minutes is likely to be the main talking point of the clash.

The Welshman was adjudged to have been offside after slotting home Santi Cazorla's outstanding through ball.

The replay showed just how tight the decision was, but if the advantage should be handed to the attacking side then Arsenal can feel hard done-by.

Aside from the controversial incident, Liverpool were on top for much of the first-half.

Outstanding saves from summer signing Cech denied goal-bound efforts from Christian Benteke and Philippe Coutinho.

Arsenal improved after the break, and could have taken the lead were it not for the woodwork stopping a Alexis Sanchez shot.

It was frantic end-to-end stuff in the final moments, but an inspired Mignolet made sure they returned to Merseyside with a point.
